Where will the Student Symposium be held?
It will all take place at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago (LSTC). Below is our address and a map:

How do we get to the Student Symposium?
If you are flying, we recommend Midway Airport (MDW), which is much closer to LSTC than O’Hare Airport (ORD). From Midway Airport to LSTC, please allow at least 45 minutes travel time (and $25 fare if by taxi cab or $2.25 by bus); from O’Hare Airport to LSTC, please allow at least 90 minutes travel time (and $50 fare if by taxi cab or $2.50 by train and bus). What housing is available?
LSTC has guest housing available next to campus at a reduced rate ($55 for an individual or $85 for a family in the conference center, $110 for a one-bedroom apartment or $140 for a two-bedroom apartment). Linens and towels are provided. Please email us if you would like us to hold a room for you. Participants are responsible for their housing costs.

Are there meals provided during the Symposium?
A light breakfast, box lunch, mid-afternoon snack and evening banquet will be served the day of the symposium. Lunch is free if you have pre-registered for the Symposium before April 9, 2010. The dinner banquet will cost $20 (and is only open to those who pre-register by April 9, 2010).

FAQs specifically for Student Speakers:
Is audiovisual support available for presentations?
Yes. If you need audiovisual support (e.g., projection equipment), please let us know in advance by emailing [email protected] and we will assist you with setup that day. The LSTC building also has wireless internet access if needed, but please plan to have audio and visual components (audio files, video clips, etc.) downloaded prior to your presentation to ensure their availability.
How does a student speaker register?

Is financial assistance available to help with student travel expenses?
Unfortunately, the Student Symposium is unable to offer financial assistance. However, we are happy to help you make arrangements and plan your trip. We recommend you ask your faculty advisor, your academic department, and your graduate student association for support.
