6th Student Symposium

February 27, 2015 @ 7:30 am - 6:30 pm

Religion, Science, and Technology:  Emerging Questions for the Next Generation

THE SIXTH STUDENT SYMPOSIUM ON SCIENCE AND SPIRITUALITY
Friday, February 27, 2015
Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago

This one-day conference provides an interdisciplinary and interfaith forum for graduate, professional, and ministry students to engage in collaborative conversations and professional networking with faculty mentors.

This conference will address one (or more) of the following questions:
• What are the “big questions” in religion and science today? In what ways will interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary perspectives inform and challenge these big questions?
• How will studies of religion and science take account of technology?
• What are some new and innovative ways of making practical applications of technology as it applies to science and religion?

Papers will be presented by graduate and professional students from the natural sciences, the social sciences, the applied sciences and engineering, and the humanities, as well as from seminary and divinity school students.  We encourage historical, critical, and constructive approaches to theoretical and empirical issues as well as reflective work on practical ministry.
