Session Chairs Information

What is my role as a Session Chair?

Session chairs play a crucial role in developing the scholarship of our student speakers. It is an opportunity to mentor emerging scholars and to foster a creative, collaborative environment for our student speakers. The primary responsibility of a session chair is to come to the session prepared to ask constructive questions and to moderate a question and answer period. Papers will be distributed in advance. Although we do not ask for formal responses, they would be welcomed. More importantly, we ask that you help students make the most of this time that is dedicated to their research.

In addition, there are several opportunities for informal conversation and mentoring, particularly by sharing meals and breaks and by participating in other sessions throughout the day. We invite you to be a part of as much of the event as you are able, and we hope that will be with us throughout the symposium.

Thank you for volunteering!

The Student Symposium would not be possible without your generous help. Thank you so much for making this a great day for the students, the symposium attendees, and everyone else!
