An Open and Relational Account of Providence, Love, and Design
Lecture topic: In discussions of evolution, intelligent design, and God’s possible activity in both, does it make any difference to believe the Apostle John’s statement, “God is love?” And if love is God mode of operation, what is love and how does it operate? In this discussion, Dr. Thomas Jay Oord explores these questions and offer answers meant for the audience to evaluate. The discussion will be oriented around the topics in the presentation title and Oord’s forthcoming book on providence, The Uncontrolling Love of God (IVP Academic).
Speaker bio: Thomas Jay Oord, Ph.D., is Professor of Theology and Philosophy at Northwest Nazarene University, Nampa, Idaho where he is a multiple-award winning lecturer. Dr. Oord has written or edited more than 20 books, including his most recent, The Uncontrolling Love of God: An Open and Relational Account of Providence (IVP Academic). Oord serves on the executive council of several scholarly groups, including the Open and Relational Theologies group (AAR), Christian Theological Research Fellowship, Biologos, and the Institute for Research on Unlimited Love.
